Declan is already a fan favorite so I'm very glad this guy gets his own book. He'll have to fight himself to not fall for an old friend's little sister, especially after Dec hires her and he finds out she's pregnant. Welcome!!! Happy Holidays fellow readers! I'm so excited to be taking part in the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway Hop. It's so fun to see what everyone else does and gives away. Hope you get some awesome prizes. Be sure to enter the draw for mine!

I am both a contemporary romance author and a cozy mystery (with a dash of romance) author. My books are on the sweet side and I especially love to write holiday stories.

To celebrate the hop, I'm going to share some of my Christmas traditions via my favorite Christmas poem! Enjoy and have a wonderful, happy holiday.
Picture
'Twas the week before Christmas,
And all through the house,
There's trimmings and trappings,
And a spirit you can't douse.

The presents are wrapped
Tucked under the tree
And every night we settle in
for A Hallmark movie.

Our children are wired
Like cats on caffeine
Watching every Christmas show
We have already seen

There's squares and cookies
Red and green krispee treats
It all tastes so good
Who needs to see their feet?

We hang with the in-laws,
The cousins, and good friends,
We stamp every envelope for
The cards we might send.

Late nights and good food,
Blissful moments in the cold
Traditions might be ancient
But, they never get old.

Christmas Eve at home
They all come right here
Then Christmas Day we go
To my parents, quite near.

I welcome it each year
This holiday season
I love it so much,
But then for some reason,

I feel a bit blue
As the days start to fade
I hang on fiercely

To the memories we've made.

Merry Christmas to all
Wishing you the best
May you be a lucky winner,
In this hop book-fest.

Space to Write

9/23/2017

Picture
For the past four to five years, I've written in multiple places. Mostly at the kitchen table, but I've also started and completed novels on the couch, in my bedroom, sitting in bed, on the floor, and in my car. At the start of summer, we moved and after a series of decisions that are never really as simple as they seem, my beautiful office became an actual thing.

I have a Pinterest board titled if I ever get an office. I truly wasn't sure I'd ever have one and because I'm a big time self-doubter, I wasn't sure I needed/deserved one. After all, an entire room in our house dedicated to me putting words down on the page not only sounded indulgent, but...nerve-wracking.

What if I put time and money into a beautiful space and couldn't write anymore books! Yes, my husband and best friend rolled their eyes as well. We decided, that should that happen...which so far, thankfully, it hasn't, we'll use this space as a lovely little library.

Which, of course, means I need more books. A lot more books because my "library" is now on my kindles. I do have several of my favorite stories on my gorgeous shelves, but nowhere near the number I used to have. I need to remedy this situation because what better inspiration for writing than being surrounded by books?

It's not quite done, but for those of you who follow my author page on Facebook, you've seen the small steps from beginning to middle to...almost close to the end. It still needs a few things: pictures to go up, a couple more shelves over my desk, and as I mentioned, more books, but it is definitely a dream space, even as is. I love it. My cozy couch arrived last week which allowed me to display my cool bookish pillows (also need more of those).

So if you ever wonder where I spend my time while typing out the words, now you know. Though I can't promise that I won't sneak up to the kitchen table now and again out of habit.

Happy Fall everyone.

SEVEN WAYS TO LOSE YOUR HEART

8/23/2017

Seven Ways to Lose Your Heart
Tiffany Truitt
Published by: Entangled Publishing
Publication date: July 18th 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance

In the span of seven days, Annabel Lee will lose her heart.

Kennedy Harrison, as reckless with life as Annabel is obsessed with order, never could commit to anything—not to a person, not to a job, not to a path. But he’s got a history with Annabel, and for once Kennedy doesn’t want to run. Determined to spend time with her before she leaves for college, Kennedy dares her to join him on a road trip to a music festival.

And neither of them could ever say no to a dare.

But Annabel’s got a plan. She’ll complete seven dares in seven days—if Kennedy applies for one writing internship per dare. Because Kennedy needs to be pushed just as much as she does.

What follows is a dizzying week of music, shady hotels, comical dares, and a passion neither one knew existed. But when it ends, Annabel and Kennedy will realize the biggest dare of all might just be falling for each other.

EXCERPT:

“You haven’t drowned in there, have you?” I yell to Annabel, noting that the sound of running water stopped about fifteen minutes ago.

“No, just relaxing,” she calls back.

Just relaxing. Naked. In a bath.

I scramble from the bed and knock gently on the door. “And would you like some company to help you, you know, relax?”

“Did you finish?” She sounds more like a scolding teacher than the girl who ravished me last night. But this is Annabel Lee we’re talking about. It’s all about priorities.

“Yes, I finished. Now, can I come in?” I ask, pulling off my shirt in anticipation.

“Read it to me.”

“Huh?” I ask, my shirt not completely removed from my head yet.

“I want you to read it to me.”

Of course she does. Why did I expect any less? I pull my shirt the rest of the way off on my walk back to get my computer. When I go to open the door, her voice halts me.

“I didn’t say come in. I said I wanted you to read it to me.”

“And may I come in when I’m done?”

“Only if it’s good,” she sings. She’s enjoying every bit of this torture. The lovable vixen.

And so I read it to her sitting on the floor outside the bathroom door. Even I have to admit it’s good. It’s, like, fucking fantastic. When I get to the part about us dancing up there together, the whole crowd making us feel like gods, she makes me read it again, and I smile knowing it meant as much to her as it did to me.

“You can come in now if you want,” she says, sounding a little shyer than I expected to hear. Gone is the bravado of the schoolteacher, replaced again by the girl who still doesn’t know the power she has over me. How does she not realize she’s had power over me since that first dare when she made me switch out Mrs. Peterson’s peanut butter sandwich with kitty litter?

My heart starts beating a little faster, knowing what’s waiting for me on the other side of this wall. My breath catches in my throat when I open the door and see her sitting there, staring up at me, and waiting.

Author Bio:

Tiffany Truitt was born in Peoria, Illinois. A self-proclaimed Navy brat, Tiffany spent most of her childhood living in Virginia, but don’t call her a Southerner. She also spent a few years living in Cuba. Since her time on the island of one McDonalds and Banana Rats (don't ask), she has been obsessed with traveling. Tiffany recently added China to her list of travels (hello inspiration for a new book).

Besides traveling, Tiffany has always been an avid reader. The earliest books she remembers reading belong to The Little House on the Prairie Series. First book she read in one day? Little Woman (5th grade). First author she fell in love with? Jane Austen in middle school. Tiffany spent most of her high school and college career as a literary snob. She refused to read anything considered "low brow" or outside the "classics."

Tiffany began teaching middle school in 2006. Her students introduced her to the wide, wonderful world of Young Adult literature. Today, Tiffany embraces popular Young Adult literature and uses it in her classroom.

Welcome to Jennifer Shirk!

Picture
Picture
My first Entangled Bliss publication was set to come out December 5th, 2016. My editor suggested I read one of her other authors as a way to get a better grasp on a specific trope. This was my introduction to Jennifer Shirk. Not only is she a great author-- I really enjoyed Wrong Brother, Right Match, but when I reached out on another trope issue....she was so gracious and helpful. I'll definitely be thanking her for her great advice and guidance on the first book in my new series. And I'll remember her telling me (when I wondered how she was SO good at this), it's easier with someone else's book. Here are Jennifer's answers to this week's Who's Who Wednesday. You can connect with her by clicking on the links below. Thanks for joining me on my blog Jennifer.

Who's Who Wednesday with Jennifer Shirk

What you write.
For those of you who don't know me, I write sweet (and sometimes even funny) romances for Montlake Romance and Entangled Publishing.

Who are your influences?
Wow… so many to name. The first and queen of my influence would be Susan Elizabeth Phillips. But I also love Meg Cabot, Sophie Kinsella, and Jill Mansell.

Favorite writing snack and beverage.
A lungo espresso (basically an espresso with more water in it) and either a little piece of dark chocolate or my healthy banana oatmeal cookies to go with it.

Hardest thing about writing?
The actual writing. LOL I should say just getting the first draft down. That's the hardest part for me. But once it's down on paper, the editing and making it all pretty and legible is my favorite part!

What you're working on now.
I'm working on the first book of a new 3 book series for the Entangled Bliss line. This is the premise: In a weakened moment, a depressed woman jilted by her longtime boyfriend has a one night stand with a wedding guest at a friend's wedding only to discover he's the man who recently bought her family's suffering business—and now happens to be her new boss.

Thanks so much for having me!

Who's Who Wednesday

4/4/2017

I'm definitely not a person who can walk up to a stranger and say, "Hey, could you help me out with a little something?" But, through writing and trying to learn how to promote myself and my books, I've lost some of my reservations...or at least adopted sort of a "the worst they can do is say no" strategy.

This is how I was lucky enough to have Cindi Madsen say yes to joining in on the celebration of my first Entangled release, More than Friends.

I was looking for new ways to celebrate a book release, but then wondered, why try something totally new when what I've done in the past has been fun? I reached out to fellow Entangled author, Cindi and asked if she'd do a guest stop at my FB party. She said yes, confirming my 'the worst they can do' theory.

While I already had some of Cindi's titles on my TBR list, I didn't know a lot about her. Upon mentioning to a group of friends that she would be joining us for the party, serious fan-girling ensued. I think it's probably good I learned how very popular she is after I asked or I might have lost my nerve. Or maybe not.

Either way, she's been nothing but supportive and helpful. She's also very funny and I've enjoyed not only reading her posts on Twitter and FB, but watching a video clip of her and her husband. Oh, and she's an awesome writer. And, we share the same fantastic editor. Make sure you check out Cindi's stories. Here's her answers to this week's Who's Who.

Who's Who Wednesday with Kat Colmer

3/21/2017

This lovely lady is Kat Colmer. I'm pretty excited to be introducing her. I met her quite recently and it was one of those very cool kismet sort of things. It seemed like no matter what one of us said, the other said, "Really? Me too!" I mean, not everything. She talked about how busy they were with cricket while we were busy with basketball season and of course, she lamented the hot weather while we were getting snow.

I've told Kat she is my Australian counterpart. We have so many things in common from books, to families, to our habit of over-thinking a few things. I've also told her that she's good for me because when I worry, she can tell me with absolute authority that things turn out okay-- because she's in the future! We often chat near my bedtime, which is funny because it's into the next work day for her.

Anyway, she's a pretty cool lady and a fellow Entangled author. She's also a librarian, which makes her instantly awesome. You can find out more about Kat on her website or follow her on twitter.
Picture

Welcome to my blog Kat. Thanks for coming by.

What you write:

I write upper young adult and sweet new adult fiction, both speculative and contemporary.

Influences:

This is a tricky one to narrow down, but if you held my block of milk hazelnut Lindt chocolate hostage until I gave you an answer, I’d have to say Melina Marchetta and Cath Crowley (for contemporary YA), Paula Weston and Rachael Craw (for speculative YA), Lauren Layne (for sassy New Adult) and Oscar Wilde’s ‘Picture of Dorian Gray’ as well as Ray Bradbury’s ‘Fahrenheit 451’ as my classics influences.

Favorite writing snack and beverage:

When I’m feeling healthy: fruit and nuts, plus a cup of herbal tea or water

When I can’t spell ‘healthy’: chocolate and a double shot cappuccino and chocolate. Also, there’s chocolate. Did I mention chocolate? Seventy percent cocoa is borderline healthy, right?

Hardest thing about writing:

Words. On. Page. Here’s the thing, the story ALWAYS plays out quickly and crisply in the movie cinema tucked inside my head, but when it comes to transferring this onto the page, the words don’t always want to be found. Which makes the writing process sooooooo painfully sloooooow.

It doesn’t help that my internal editor seems to have discovered the secret to immortality. No matter how many times I try to kill the intrusive little bugger, he forces his way between the words on my page, pointing his accusing knobbly finger at all the things I could be doing better.

What you’re working on now:

Right now I’m working on the sequel to my YA paranormal romance due out with Entangled Teen sometime later this year / start of 2018. Both stories are about an Old Testament love curse that goes horribly wrong. Picture a hero who’s on the hit list of some ancient and very ticked off demons because of something he’s done in book 1 (I’m not telling. You’ll have to read it to find out). Things get worse for him when he indirectly causes the heroine’s brother to be kidnapped by the very hellhounds who are after him, and he reluctantly agrees to help her execute a rescue.

Apart from demons, there’s sword fighting and taekwondo (because the demons and sword fighting alone weren’t quite edgy enough). And kissing. There might be some kissing. Okay, there’s definitely kissing. Because who doesn’t like kissing? It’s kinda like chocolate only healthy!

Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Kat.

SELECT CONTEMPORARY MAN CANDY CONCESSION STAND

Welcome to the Select Contemporary Man Candy Concession Stand-featuring heroes that are so irresistible, you'll be kicking your current book boyfriend to the curb! Below, MK Meredith, Abby Niles, Hayson Manning, Alison Bliss, and Carol Pavliska are kicking off the Man Candy Wars by introducing you to their heroes (both new and old). So be sure to read up on these men so you can vote for you favorite fictional man candy at tonight's Man Candy Wars!

Drago

My name is Drago DeLuca.

I’m known in the Italian business world as The Dragon, but don’t let that dissuade you. I may be a corporate carnivore, but a maiden in or out of distress is surely my favorite meal. Women are beautiful creatures, and one who isn’t afraid of her power, who shows spunk and confidence is like eating dessert first. All the glory, followed by a savory dish that leaves one satisfied for days.

Though I’m a man of the world, my heart belongs to my nonna. She’s the one women I’d give everything up for. That’s the kind of loyalty you get from me once I believe your love is true. But therein lies the challenge. Experience has taught me true love is a rare, and one might even say endangered, entity. I admire bravery and intelligence and if ever both qualities were found in one woman who also puts me in my place, the temptation would be far too great to resist--and believe me, once you get a taste of The Dragon, you won't want me to.

Brody

I hate these things. The internet is too impersonal. I’m more of a one-on-one, face-to-face sort of guy. But what the hell, Abby asked me to tell all you lovely readers a little about myself. Since I love that woman, she gets what she wants. Though if I had my preference, I’d rather do a meet and greet so I’d have the honor of seeing each of your beautiful faces.

Unfortunately, this will have to do for now. I’m Brody “The Iron” Minton. I’m a heavyweight fighter. But don’t let that tough man career fool you. While I can knock the shit out of any man I square off with, and will do so without hesitation, I’m a huge softy. I blame it on having five sisters.

As far as I’m concerned, family is everything. I take my role as Uncle Brody seriously. To prove my point, I have a white Persian cat named Princess—picked out and named by my niece. Yes, it can be embarrassing to tell people that, but that child is my world. And if she wanted to name it Princess, then by damn, that cat was going to be named Princess, and to hell with anyone that laughed at me for sticking to it.

I love my Harley and going on long rides in the country. I find my peace out on the open road.
Tattoos are cool as fuck.  I’m working on finishing my sleeve right now. I have a couple more frames to go. One of Hawkeye then of Deadpool. Yes, I’m a comic book nerd and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

I believe women should be treated with respect. I have five sisters, remember? I’ve watched them cry too many times over douchebags. I refuse to be one.

Well ladies, I need to jet. My niece will be here in just a bit. I’m babysitting for a few hours so my sister and her husband can go on a much needed date. I hope each one you has an amazing day!

Brody
Dug

The name I go by at the moment is Dug. You all don’t know me yet. I am book two of the Bound series. You might have met me in Bound to the Bounty Hunter.  I don’t talk much, but I observe a lot, especially my work colleague Arabella Tennyson, who used to go by the name of Mia. Guess she’s hiding secrets too. There isn’t a lot to know about me. I like my beer cold and my food hot. I don’t date, and I don’t do relationships which kills my mother and sisters, who have not stopped matchmaking since I landed back in Colorado where I now work for Harlan Franco. I foster severely neglected dogs, I’m a Bronco’s supporter, and I once had a perfect life.
Jake

I’m FBI Special Agent Jake Ward and, without a doubt, I am your ideal man candy hero. I may not always be forthcoming with my feelings, but I’m always honest. Maybe even to a fault. Okay, so I can be a bit cocky and arrogant at times. I admit it. Some might even say I’m infuriatingly alpha. Mostly because I like for a woman to play by the rules. Oh, wait. I’m supposed to be listing my good qualities, aren't I? Okay, let me try this again. I’m protective, loyal, and rule-abiding…when I get to make the rules. I’d take a bullet for those I love, and I always protect what’s mine.
Julian

I’m Julian and I don’t do crowds, so I’m honestly not looking forward to being dragged off to a carnival and paraded around as man candy. And although I’ve been promised a spot in the kissing booth if I behave myself, I’m highly suspicious I’ll end up in the dunking booth instead. One thing I definitely won’t be doing at the carnival is eating carnival food. I haven’t always treated my body like a temple, but I do now. No meat, no dairy, lots of working out. I admit that some people find it annoying, but nobody complains about the result. In fact, women seem to rather enjoy it. They also appreciate my many tattoos, British accent (I might play that up a bit), and lightning fast fingers. Get your minds out of the gutter, loves. I’m a guitarist. I’m also known for the somewhat peculiar condition of synesthesia, which means I see sounds as colors. Believe me it’s not as lovely as you might think. It’s why I left the stage for the sanctity of my recording studio. I no longer crave the spotlight, and the attention of one special woman is all I need. Be sure to stop by and say hello at the carnival. I might end up being the thrill ride of your life.

As if being at the same university isn’t enough, both Blake and Payton land the same internship. About the Book:

Instead she’s reluctantly working as Jack’s personal assistant, thanks to her powerhouse talent agent aunt.

Jack is private, prickly, and downright condescending. Jessica pushes his buttons—she’s not the type of girl to swoon over celebrity heartthrobs, precisely why her aunt thought she’d be perfect for the job—and Jack pushes right back.

But as she begins to peel away his layers, Jessica is shocked to find she craves her boss’s easy smile and sexy blue eyes. The problem is, so does the entire female population. And what started out as the job from hell soon has Jess wondering if a guy like Jack could ever find love with a regular girl like her.

Josh Walker is loyal, reckless, and every girl’s dream. But he only has eyes for December Howard, the girl he has yearned for since his high school hockey days. Together they have survived grief, the military, distance, and time as they’ve fought for stolen weekends between his post at Ft. Rucker and her schooling at Vanderbilt. Now that Josh is a medevac pilot and Ember is headed toward graduation, they’re moving on—and in—together.

Ember never wanted the Army life, but loving Josh means accepting whatever the army dictates—even when that means saying goodbye as Josh heads to Afghanistan, a country that nearly killed him once before and that took her father. But filling their last days together with love, passion, and plans for their future doesn’t temper Ember’s fear, and if there’s one thing she’s learned from her father’s death, it’s that there are some obstacles even love can’t conquer.

Flight school is over.

This is war.
